Along with a spruce top, this model's all-solid tonewoods yields a midrange-focused response similar to mahogany but with a bit more overtone presence. Walnut's initially dry character opens up as the guitar is played, and you'll notice more bloom and power in the low end with time. The C-Class bracing inside dials up even more bass resonance and warmth. At the vanguard of our newly revoiced Grand Orchestra body shape, the 618e establishes a new style of bold, powerful acoustic tone within the Taylor line. Solid maple back and sides lend this big-bodied powerhouse a focused, transparent sound that adapts and reflects the style of the player, while a solid Sitka spruce top adds brilliance and clarity. The transformative introduction of V-Class bracing into the Grand Orchestra body offers players a more robust, vivid tonal response, with greater volume and sustain alongside heightened clarity and musicality that make this model even more player-reflective and a versatile choice for musicians across styles. The touch-sensitive response balances out serious headroom and projection so that players can explore a wide dynamic range without losing balance or fading out of a mix. Appointments for this 600 Series model include maple binding with koa purfling, a single-ring paua rosette, mother-of-pearl Mission inlays, and a gloss finish treated with an Antique Blonde finish for the top, back and sides. To preserve the traditional look and feel of this jumbo-style guitar, we’ve chosen to build it without a cutaway. The 618e ships with ES2 electronics in a deluxe Western Floral hardshell case.

Taylor 717e Builders Edition
Part of Taylor’s inaugural class of Grand Pacific guitars, the Builder’s Edition 717 builds on a long tradition of rosewood/spruce dreadnoughts but breaks new ground with an entirely new Taylor sound. The round-shoulder dreadnought shape, featuring Taylor’s award-winning V-Class bracing, produces warm, seasoned acoustic tone in which individual notes overlap and blend smoothly together, while the low-end power common among dreadnoughts boasts greater clarity here. V-Class brings extra punch and sustain, along with improved intonation and musicality across the entire frequency spectrum. Together with rosewood’s harmonic complexity and the played-in sound of the torrefied spruce top, players can expect rich, luxurious tonal character from top to bottom. It’s a voice comfortably rooted in a traditional sound, yet updated to offer more expressive musical range. As a Builder’s Edition model, the 717 also sports an array of premium, player-friendly features: chamfered body edges, rolled fretboard edges, and a new compound-carve neck profile, whose contours match the natural adjustments in the player’s hand position when moving up and down the fretboard. Even the bridge design was refined to add a more ergonomic feel for the player’s pick hand. Taylor’s noise-reducing Silent Satin finish displays the muted sheen of an older guitar, while elegantly understated appointments include mother-of-pearl Arrowhead fretboard and peghead inlays, with sapele binding. It all adds up to a Taylor like you’ve never seen, heard or felt before.

This Grand Pacific model is the first of our round-shoulder dreadnoughts to feature back and sides of solid ovangkol, an African tonewood that shares rosewood’s warmth and brilliance with additional presence in the midrange. Topped with solid spruce, the AD17 serves up a blend of sparkle and clean low-end power, enhanced by V-Class bracing for greater volume, longer sustain, and a more in-tune sound. That seasoned, vintage-hued tone is reflected in this model’s strikingly classic look, with a natural top and a deep Urban Sienna color treatment for the ovangkol back and sides. Minimally decorated but finely crafted, the AD17 also features chamfered body edges, stained spruce edge trim, a three-ring rosette in Hawaiian koa, and a faux tortoiseshell pickguard. The 2.0 mil-thick matte body finish minimizes damping for unfettered resonance. It ships in a Taylor AeroCase.

The star here is Urban Ash™, a tonewood sourced from city trees that have been selected for removal from urban settings due to due to weather or disease damage, public safety concerns, disruptive root systems, and simply reaching the end of their life cycle. Instead of allowing this beautiful, functional wood to end its life cycle in a landfill, we’ve reclaimed it for use in the backs and sides of this 324ce, offering a tonal response similar to high-tier mahogany: dry and woody, with a fundamental-strong response that produces clear notes largely free from ringing overtones. Paired with a mahogany top, this Grand Auditorium produces clear midrange presence and crisp highs over a rich low end that will satisfy strummers and fingerstyle players alike.
